Our Narrative

In order to be able to see a need, one has to look with eyes of compassion.

Some needs are invisible, not entirely tracked, and because of the rural location they do not get the recognized attention.  The lack of awareness and ability to connect with the available services if often difficult!

A shelter is more than dry, warm place to stay.  The Mission of Hope House is a place that provides refuge, education, has the ability to link individuals with the available resources, and empowers people to develop their own strengths.  People do not need money given to them (a hand out); they need the tools to be self-sustainable in our society (a hand up).   Improving on educational opportunities for all, developing sustainable solutions will lead to a healthier, vibrant, and strong community!

When we look at making a lasting impact, we need to look at a wide range of components and build on them “in community”!  Yes, we need to provide relief services to meet the needs by providing short-term aid such as food, clothing, and shelter; however, we also need to look at personal empowerment, community development, and systematic change.  Personal empowerment provides support such as education, training, and counseling to help people develop their potential and improve their lives.  Community development renews the building blocks of a healthy community by getting all entities from within a community involved to find sustainable solutions.  Systematic change will occur through advocacy.

The Mission of Hope House will collaborate with all area social and human service agencies.  It is fully expected that churches, religious organizations, service clubs, businesses, families, and neighborhood organizations will actively participate in the shelter’s activities.  Providing case management accompanied by the collaboration with social service and community agencies are all keys to success.

The Mission of Hope House of WI, Inc is a place that provides refuge, education, has the ability to link individuals with the available resources, and empowers people to develop their own strengths. People need the tools to be self-sustainable in our society (a hand up not a hand out)! The Mission of Hope House of WI, Inc. will provide temporary emergency and crisis housing for men, women, and families. House rules will require all residence to have case management, develop and show progress on a self-sufficiency plan. The Mission of Hope House will also act as a Resource Center.
